Battle Hymn of the Christian War

STANZA 1:
There's a battle going on inside
that's tearing me apart.
It's raging, screaming, killing;
it destroys this broken heart.
And just when I think that I might
concede in forced retreat,
the tides will turn to side with light,
and darkness will be beat.

STANZA 2:
The time has come to take up sword
and battle without despair.
We must take up the Holy Word --
it's Christ, who'll hold us there!
We never need to worry, then,
the outcome, wrong or right.
We simply need to trust in Him
who gives us strength to fight.

STANZA 3:
This war will soon be over that
has stolen so much life.
The victory was promised at
the hill where Jesus died.
Soon we'll see that glorious King
riding on the clouds.
There we will His praises sing --
we'll sing them oft and loud!

STANZA 4:
So don't lose heart or give up hope,
for victory is sure.
With sufferings we'll need not cope,
for tears cannot endure.
The losses we have lost cannot
come close to compare
to the sufferings with which Christ bought
our souls. Do not despair!
