Currently Watching
The Sixth Sense
By Bruce Willis, Toni Collette, Olivia Williams, Haley Joel Osment
see related
Cole: "We were supposed to draw a picture -- anything we wanted. I drew a man, got hurt in the neck by another man with a screwdriver.... Everyone got upset. They had a meeting. Mom started crying. I don't draw like that anymore."
Malcolm: "How do you draw now?"
Cole: "I draw people smiling...dogs running...rainbows. They don't have meetings about rainbows."

Incidentally, I decided maybe this site still has a continuing use.

135 posts, 365 days, and  3,666 comments.
It's been fun, and I've learned a lot. Hopefully the readers have too.
No, you haven't gotten rid of me. Nice try, though.
On this, the end of a year as Pyro589 in Xangaland, I'm going to change my identity. I'm now going to use the username XristosAnesti, which is transliterated Greek for, "Christ is risen."
Many people have asked me, "Caleb, why are you changing Xanga sites? It's seems kind of dumb." To this, I reply, "Um...I don't know. I don't like the old username...and, uh...yeah, that's about it."
I'm leaving this site up as an archive and a record of the past year. There's probably some good stuff in here somewhere that might be fun to read someday.
Happy birthday, Pyro589-Xanga...I'm moving on...but not really...
Yeah, so it's probably a dumb, pointless idea; but I'm doing it anyway!

FINAL RANDOM QUESTION(S): Why do they call it the first birthday when it's one year from the date of birth? Isn't it really the second? Shouldn't I be 20 years old on my 21st birthday?

Gripheonix posted a quote by confucius about learning and thinking. In trying to find out the origins of the quote, I've run across a few others...

THINKING:

"Thinking is the most unhealthy thing in the world, and people die of it just as they die of any other disease. Fortunately, in England at any rate, thought is not catching. Our splendid physique as a people is entirely due to our national stupidity. "
 - Oscar Wilde

"
Some people get lost in thought because it's such unfamiliar territory."
 - G. Behn

"If everybody thought before they spoke, the silence would be deafening."
 -
George Barzan

"Never express yourself more clearly than you are able to think."
 - Niels Bohr (who, according to Stronbad, is "the most aptly named of all Danish physicists.")

"
Unfortanutly, thinking isn't one the things I do best."
 - Winnie the Pooh

"
It is of itself that the divine thought thinks (since it is the most excellent of things), and its thinking is a thinking on thinking."
 - Aristotle

"You cannot think about thinking, without thinking about thinking about something."
 - Seymour Papert

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them."
 - Albert Einstein

LEARNING:

"Everybody who is incapable of learning has taken to teaching."
 - Oscar Wilde

"If you hold a cat by the tail you learn things you cannot learn any other way."
 - Mark Twain

"Education is learning what you didn't even know you didn't know."
 -
Daniel J. Boorstin

"
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so."
 - Douglas Adams (author of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, in case you didn't know)

Power corrupts. Knowledge is power. Study hard. Be evil.
 -
Andrew Stanchfield

Your Famous Last Words Will Be:
"I dunno, press the button and find out."
Your Blog Should Be Green
Your blog is smart and thoughtful - not a lot of fluff.
You enjoy a good discussion, especially if it involves picking apart ideas.
However, you tend to get easily annoyed by any thoughtless comments in your blog.
You Are 32% Abnormal
You are at medium risk for being a psychopath. It is somewhat likely that you have no soul.

You are at low risk for having a borderline personality. It is unlikely that you are a chaotic mess.

You are at low risk for having a narcissistic personality. It is unlikely that you are in love with your own reflection.

You are at low risk for having a social phobia. It is unlikely that you feel most comfortable in your mom's basement.

You are at medium risk for obsessive compulsive disorder. It is somewhat likely that you are addicted to hand sanitizer.
You Are Very Honest
You tell it like it is, no matter what.
Even if the truth hurts, you'll dish it out.
And while some may get hurt by your honesty...
At least everyone knows where you stand!
How Honest Are You?

Dad, take special notice of this one, please:
